YEREVAN. – A terrorist group had entered the Armenian National Assembly (NA) sessions’ hall, on October 27, 1999 and killed several of the country’s Government and Parliament members.

Then-PM Vazgen Sargsyan, NA Speaker Karen Demirchyan, his two deputies—Yuri Bakhshyan and Ruben Miroyan—, Operational Issues Minister Leonard Petrosyan, and MPs Armenak Armenakyan, Henrik Abrahamyan, and Mikayel Kotanyan fell victims to this terrorist attack. 

Marking the thirteenth anniversary of this tragedy, NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, MPs, relatives of the victims, NA Staff members, and journalists accredited at the NA placed flowers to the victims’ memorial and paid tribute to them, NA press service informs.   

“We have gathered here today to honor our [fallen] statesmen and political figures. This was a crime [committed] against the nation, the state. I condemn this crime, on behalf of the NA, and regret the loss of our politicians,” NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan told the news reporters.
