YEREVAN.- During the last 7 years the total number of hotels almost doubled, however the bed capacity increased only around 1.4 times, says the comprehensive research conducted by Ameria CJSC.

The research made in tourism and hotel accommodation industry is aimed at estimating its present state and development dynamics in the country.

A detailed analysis of the available accommodation places in the country showed that during the last seven years, total number of hotels in Armenia almost doubled, however the bed capacity increased only around 1.4 times, which means that more facilities with small number of rooms.

According to research findings, in 2011 around 5.2 million people visited South Caucasus on business, for a holiday or other types of trips.

It is interesting to note that during the last 10 years Compounded Annual Growth rate of the number of international arrivals is the highest for Georgia (25.2%), followed by Armenia (16.7%) and Azerbaijan (10.5%). These indicators show the region, in particular Georgia and Armenia, have a good potential for tourism development.

Arman Porsughyan, Senior Specialist of Ameria Management Advisory, said, “We conducted the research based on data provided by internationally recognized research centers (Colliers International, HVS Global Hospitality Services, Richard Cancellor, etc.) and other companies as well as regional surveys done by international organizations and the National Statistical Services of the Republic of Armenia. It also includes special expert assessments on the hotel industry of Armenia and the region as well as outlines the development outlook and dynamics of this industry in Armenia and South Caucasus region.”

The research findings will be presented in detail on December 14, 2012 during a round table discussion with participation of all stakeholders, international organizations, experts, etc. All interested parties are welcome to apply to Ameria CJSC.
