Georgian PM Bidzina Ivanishvili has not interfered in release of Armenian activist Vahagn Chakhalyan, he told reporters in Davos.

Vahagn Chakhalyan was released on Thursday evening after spending five years in jail.

Ianishvili said the issue was raised by Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, but Georgian PM redirected problem, Gruziya Online reported.

“I am not interfering in the matters not concerning me. It is not up to me to settle the issues on release of prisoners. It is not the time when one person was in charge of decisions. I redirected the issue to, it seems to Sozar Subari [Georgian Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance]. I do not even remember his answer,” Ivanishvili said.

Meanwhile, Chakhalyan’s release was strictly condemned by the former ruling party run by Mikheil Saakashvili.
