YEREVAN.- Armenian activist Vahagn Chakhalyan has been released.

He is heading to Tbilisi to meet with the head of the Georgian diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church and will visit St. Etchmiadzin church, coordinator of Yerkir NGO Robert Tatosyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Vahagn Chakhalyan has been in prison for five years. In 2009 he was sentenced to 10 years in jail charged with organization of events violating public order, possession of weapons and hooliganism.
