Azerbaijani deputy FM Araz Azimov’s recent statement, according to which the Azerbaijani authorities do not plan to shoot down civil aircrafts that fly to and from the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) capital city Stepanakert airport, shows that the efforts by the international community have born fruit, the NKR President’s Press Secretary Davit Babayan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, the Azerbaijani deputy FM’s statements point to a number of trends.

“[But] the most important thing is that the efforts by the international community have born fruit, and Azerbaijan replaced [its] fascist rhetoric by [a] chauvinistic [one],” Babayan noted.

Commenting on Azimov’s declaration that the operations at Stepanakert Airport will “insult the memory of the Azerbaijanis that were killed in Khojaly,” the NKR president’s press secretary considered this to be a demagogy.

“With this viewpoint, it turns out that the operations at Baku’s Bina Airport insult those hundreds of thousands of Armenians that lived and worked for the prosperity of Baku but, later, were forced to leave the city, or were killed during the organized pogrom. The attempt to link one with the other demonstrates the serious moral and psychological condition that reigns within Azerbaijan,” Babayan noted.
