YEREVAN. – A delegation led by Armenia’s Culture Minister Hasmik Poghosyan was on an official visit to the Georgian capital city Tbilisi, from March 20 to 22.  

On March 21, Poghosyan met with Georgian PM Bidzina Ivanishvili, Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia, and Georgia’s Minister of Culture and Monument Protection, Guram Odisharia.

During her meeting with Ivanishvili, Armenia’s culture minister underscored the Georgian PM’s recent visit to Armenian capital city Yerevan, Armenian Culture Ministry press service informs. In his turn, Ivanishvili expressed willingness to assist in deepening cultural cooperation between the two peoples.    

During his talk with Armenia’s minister of culture, Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia highly appreciated the friendship between the Armenian and the Georgian people. At the same time, the parties highlighted the cooperation in the preservation of ecclesiastical and spiritual heritage.

During the private talk with Georgia’s Minister of Culture and Monument Protection, Guram Odisharia, and the ensuing extended-format meeting, the parties examined numerous matters with respect to cultural cooperation between both countries.  

Aside from her meetings, Hasmik Poghosyan also visited several Armenian churches in Tbilisi, to get familiar with their restoration activities. 

During her official visit to Georgia, Armenia’s culture minister also attended a number of cultural and Armenian community events.  

During her talk with the representatives of Georgia’s Armenian community, Minister Hasmik Poghosyan stressed that there exists a favorable climate to make the cultural cooperation between the two countries reach a higher level. She also spoke about the planned joint activities.
