YEREVAN. – We are trying to analyze the latest political developments in Armenia just like an unsuccessful hunter, when the shadow of the beast and not the actual beast is hunted, opposition Sardarapat movement member, filmmaker Tigran Khzmalyan stated during a press conference on Thursday.

In his words, what is taking place in Armenia in the recent years is developments that are characteristic to post-Soviet countries.

“If we can comprehend where we are, only then will we understand what awaits us,” Khzmalyan said.

He expressed a view that people are attempting to implement in Armenia today what happened in Russia in the 17th century, that is, transitioning to bourgeoisie.

“The triumph of the head of this movement, Diaspora-Armenian figure [opposition Heritage Party Chairman, former FM] Raffi Hovannisian [who is declared runner-up to the winner, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, as a result of the presidential election that was conducted on February 18, but who claims to be the real winner in the vote and who declared a hunger strike on March 10 at capital city Yerevan’s Liberty Square], is inevitable, just as inevitable is the defeat of the military-feudal forces, which are led by Serzh Sargsyan. We know the most important thing: Armenia has changed and it will not be like before,” he stated.

Khzmalyan also noted that even if Hovannisian fails to have the movement achieve victory, this will not mean that the movement will fade away; instead, solely the name of its leader will change.

“I believe Raffi will realize [this] and his efforts will be more coordinated,” Tigran Khzmalyan said, and added that Raffi Hovannisian has selected the option of a Trojan Horse to capture power.
