YEREVAN. – Armenia’s defense ministry did everything to ensure proper working conditions for the journalists in Yerevan-Sevan highway during an action organized by parents of the killed soldier.

This was stated by spokesperson for Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan in response to Armenian News-NEWS.am’s request to comment on hindering journalists’ work.

Hovhannisyan noted that when receiving first alerts on hindering reporters’ work, he instructed to address Deputy Minister who was at the scene.

“As to hampering the work of journalists, the issue must be studied by relevant agencies. If the cases of hampering reporters’ work are disclosed, Defense Ministry will give an appropriate response,” he said.

Earlier spokesperson for the Armenian President condemned actions towards the reporters.

To note, when the relatives of the military serviceman were attempting to transfer his body to Yerevan, Defense Ministry servicemen and Police officers had blocked their way. There was an ensuing altercation between the two parties. In addition, the members of the law enforcement agencies had hindered the work of the journalists, who were covering this incident, by taking away their cameras and flashcards.
