YEREVAN. – Lack of direct contacts between Armenian and Azerbaijani bodies does not prevent from getting accurate information on the missing persons, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan said.

The head of defense ministry said the intelligence activities continue. Unfortunately, the results are not impressive, since Armenia is trying to establish contacts with the Azerbaijani side only through international agencies.

The Commission on Prisoners of War Hostages and Missing persons holds sessions twice a year, he added. Problems of the relatives of the missing persons must be the focus of the Commission, local authorities and the military.

On June 29 Armenia marks the day of missing Karabakh war warriors. Around 1,000 Armenian and Karabakh soldiers have been considered missing since the Karabakh war.
