YEREVAN. – About 20,888 tons of apricots are exported from Armenia so far this year, against the 11,500 tons of the year past.

The aforesaid was noted Tuesday during the talk between Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan and the entrepreneurs of the agricultural product processing industry.

Around 11,905 tons of apricots were purchased by the processing companies, which is about 4,144 tons more than the same period last year.

The growth is noticeable in the fruit and vegetable indicators, too. A total of 12,977 tons of fruits and 477 tons of vegetables are purchased for processing so far this year, and the fruit-vegetable exports are at 34,996 tons.

“We all need to stand at the side of the villagers. They should be supported by determining a reasonable purchase price and creating favorable conditions for them,” the minister said.

In their turn, the purchasers assured the minister that there would not be any obstacles in terms of purchasing fruits and vegetables from the farmers.
