YEREVAN. – As of July 1, 2013, a total of 189,700 disabled persons are recorded in Armenia, informs the National Statistical Service.

The number of disabled persons in the country has increased by 7,000, as compared to July 1, 2012.

The permanently disabled grew at a greater rate reaching 123,000, against the 112,800 in the year past.

The largest group of people with disabilities in Armenia is those between the ages of 40 and 63, comprising about 52 percent of the total. There are 8,100 disabled persons up to 18 years of age, and 27,400 disabled people are between 18 to 40 years old.

Approximately 47 percent of the disabled persons in Armenia are women.
