Dialogue and confidence-building are among the priorities set by Switzerland for its chairmanship in 2014, the Swiss Foreign Ministry said.

“During its term as chairman-in-office, Switzerland will support efforts for a peaceful solution to the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. Its efforts will unfold within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group’s mediation for a peaceful resolution to the conflict,” spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Pierre-Alain Eltschinger said in a statement in response to a written inquiry by Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The statement said that Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter met with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu in Bern for consultations on October 10.

“During their meeting, Mr Burkhalter underscored the importance of the Zurich Protocols signed in 2009 targeting the normalisation of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Armenia.”
