YEREVAN. – Gas deal with Russia is in the interests of Armenia’s future, Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov said in parliament on Friday.

“The opposition accuses authorities of betraying national interests. My answer is as follows: is it good or bad that the gas price for Armenia decreased from $270 to 189 per thousand cubic meters, with an alternative of $500? And please note that we had to pay the accumulated debt of $300 million I think that by taking a decision we must consider the interests of our citizens and future generations. You need to think not about tomorrow, but about the day after tomorrow, our children and grandchildren,” Sharmazanov said.

The Armenian lawmakers on Friday are discussing intergovernmental agreements on gas. Simultaneously, protest actions are being held near the parliament’s building
