Former Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon died at the age of 85 on Saturday, eight years after being in coma, The Guardian reported.

On Sunday the doctors said his health condition deteriorated sharply and he is unlikely to overcome the crisis. Sharon had been in a coma since 2006 when he had a stroke.

Ariel Sharon served as Israel’s 11th Prime Minister from March 2001 till April 2006.
