Armenian and Japanese foreign ministries on Thursday held regular political consultations in Tokyo.

From the Armenian side, the consultations were held by Armenian Deputy FM Sergey Manasaryan, and by Norio Maruyama, Ambassador, special representative for Caucasus at European Affairs Bureau, from the Japanese side.

The sides discussed issues of bilateral agenda, in particular intensification of political dialogue, creation of necessary conditions for progress in trade and economic relations, cooperation within international agencies, deepening of cooperation on education and culture.

The parties underscored importance of the decision to open Japanese embassy in Armenia that was made by the government and approved by the Japanese parliament last year.

The sides exchanged views on international and regional issues.
