YEREVAN. – The torturing of military serviceman Mher Khlghatyan, who is transferred to the Armenian MOD Central Garrison Military Hospital in capital city Yerevan, is not proved, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan told reporters on Thursday.     

Ohanyan stressed that the soldier is conscious and he said that such an incident had not occurred.   

The minister also noted that a criminal case is opened on the incident, and people have been arrested.

In Seyran Ohanyan’s words, should it be proved that force was used, the perpetrators will be punished, and the law enforcement will draw the respective conclusion.

Conscript, new recruit Mher Khlghatyan, 18, was transferred to the MOD Central Garrison Military Hospital, on Monday at round 2:10am, with acute bilateral pneumonia and injuries. According to media reports, the soldier was brutally beaten. The MOD Investigation Service opened a criminal case on the fact, a forensic medical examination is commissioned, and an investigation is underway.
