YEREVAN. – Representatives from ArmRusGazprom Company of Armenia and a group of journalists went on surprise inspections of the quality of natural gas in capital city Yerevan. 

The respective decision was made unexpectedly during the roundtable discussion, which was held Monday at the company office, and devoted to the calorific value of the gas being consumed in Armenia.   

“We stand ready to provide our mobile laboratory for that. We are willing to provide it in case of receiving a call  from the civil sector. We are prepared to jointly check the calorific value of the gas in any Yerevan address that they indicate,” stated ArmRusGazprom General Manager Vardan Harutyunyan.

In response, the journalists and the NGO representatives gave several addresses.

“Our specialists can go with you [to these addresses] right now!” Harutyunyan replied.

As per Armen Poghosyan, Head of the “Consumers Association of Armenia” NGO, the surprise measurements should become regular, and the NGOs should be able to inform ArmRusGazprom the address where an inspection will be conducted at the same moment.     

“Such means of work will rule out the view that the inspections are a formality, and they are conducted where it is convenient,” Poghosyan added.
