YEREVAN. – Armenian Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan, who is visiting the Netherlands, met with the administration and faculty at Leiden University.  

The interlocutors discussed the reopening of the university’s Armenian Studies Department, which functioned between 1994 and 2009, but was closed due to financial difficulties.

The Armenian party proposed an interdisciplinary collaboration program to reopen the department, with the participation of the leading universities in Armenia, informs the Armenian Education and Science Ministry press service.

They also conferred on the opportunities for signing cooperative agreements between Leiden University, and Yerevan State and Yerevan State Medical Universities.         

The Armenian delegation, led by Ashotyan, also met with the directors of several Dutch foundations. They discussed the need to secure the continuity of Armenia’s education programs on civil and human Rights.
