YEREVAN. – The European Union (EU) Advisory Group in Armenia on Tuesday held its regular Advisory Board meeting.
The group summed up the results of its activities in the last quarter of 2013, and outlined the directions for its activities in the next quarter.

Speaking at the board meting, Armenian National Security Council (NSC) Secretary Arthur Baghdasaryan thanked the EU Advisory Group for its assistance in the carrying out of reforms in Armenia, and highly appreciated its activities.
“I believe we have worked quite effectively in previous years, and all the grounds exist for future activities,” Baghdasaryan noted.

He added that Armenia’s new action plan with the EU, which comprises reforms in over 160 directions, will be discussed at the NSC session on Tuesday.

Considering that the work of the group was planned until the end of April of this year but the scheduled projects are not fully implemented as of yet, the Armenian party proposed to extend the duration of the group’s activities, and the European party is inclined toward agreeing.

According to the plan, the EU Advisory Group will handle judicial reforms until April, and these reforms will be carried out based on the best European track-record.

Simultaneous work will be done also in the fight against corruption, the increase of democracy, and the development of interparliamentary cooperation.

The EU Advisory Group in Armenia was formed in 2009 to help Armenian authorities in conducting political and economic reforms in the country.
