YEREVAN. – The possibility of a war between Western countries and Russia because of Ukraine is really low, says Turkish expert Hasan Selim Ozertem.

Researcher at the Center for Energy Security Studies of the International Strategic Research Organization Hasan Selim Ozertem told Armenian News-NEWS.am that right now everybody is trying to give a chance to diplomacy.

“But the time is in favor of Russia. I suppose a possible referendum in Crimea will end up within the interests of Russian Federation. As a result Russia will try to use this to legitimize its presence in Crimea”, he emphasized.

However, from the researcher’s point of view, Ukraine's position is so critical that if Russia tries to extend its control towards Eastern part of the country, Kyiv has to react to this maneuver.

The referendum in Crimea was appointed on March 16 this year.
