YEREVAN. – A radio broadcast transmitting device is installed in a bus stop in the heart of Armenia’s capital city Yerevan.
The device broadcasts the Public Radio programs, primarily classical and spiritual music, patriotic songs, and the news.

According to Yerevan Municipality Information and Public Relations Department Chief Artur Gevorgyan, this is a pilot program, and if it receives a positive feedback from the public, such devices will be installed in many other bus stops in the city.

Armenian News-NEWS.am, on the other hand, conducted its own survey, and it became apparent that this initiative is not approved by everyone.

Some of those who are over 50 years old considered this device to be meaningless and suppressive because, in their view, it is imposed upon the people.

According to the younger respondents, however, this idea is quite successful, since it cuts down the time while waiting for a public transportation vehicle to arrive.

Some other respondents noted that playing music at the bus stop is meaningless because the street noise overpowers it, thus the music becomes nerve–racking.
