YEREVAN. – Former MP Lernik Aleksanyan, who is 113th in the proportional election list of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), again will be given a deputy’s mandate on Friday.

Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Press Secretary Hermine Harutyunyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the CEC will hold a regular meeting on Friday.

At the meeting a registry will be made on giving the mandate of an RPA MP, who has prematurely terminated his powers as National Assembly (NA) deputy, to the next MP candidate on the RPA NA election list.

Former NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan’s parliamentary mandate was terminated in connection with his appointment as Prime Minister of Armenia.

Aleksanyan earlier had told Armenian News-NEWS.am that he will not petition for a request to give up the parliamentary seat and, apparently, he will become a deputy.

Lernik Aleksanyan was an NA deputy from 1998 to 2012, too.
