YEREVAN. – The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Armenia convened a regular meeting on Friday.

At the meeting, and based on the National Assembly (NA) acting speaker’s registry on considering NA member Hovik Abrahamyan’s parliamentary mandate terminated, the CEC made a registry on giving this mandate to Lernik Aleksanyan, who is the next MP candidate on the NA proportional election list of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia.

Former NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan’s parliamentary mandate was terminated due to his appointment as Prime Minister of Armenia.

Aleksanyan earlier had told Armenian News-NEWS.am that he will not petition for a request to give up the parliamentary seat and, apparently, he will become a deputy.

Lernik Aleksanyan was an NA deputy from 1998 to 2012, too.
