Caucasus Institute Deputy Director, political analyst Sergey Minasyan told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am, commenting on the journalist’s arrest.
In Minasyan’s words, Mirkadirov is a prominent Azerbaijani journalist who has long worked and teamed up with various, including Armenian, organizations.
“I myself have repeatedly invited him to participate in scientific-practical conferences; I am quite well acquainted with him.
“Mirkadirov quite frankly develops his viewpoint in connection with the settlement of the Karabakh conflict; he is an honest and sincere Azerbaijani citizen.
“Despite the disputes, he always had a friendly disposition towards Armenians. This factor might have had an impact on the Azerbaijani authorities’ decision [to have him arrested]. According to their logic, every Azerbaijani should be inimical towards Armenians,” the Armenian analyst stated.
