YEREVAN. – Turkey must necessarily recognize the Armenian Genocide and accept the demands as it is the path of Turkey's democratization, chairman of European Peace and Democracy Assembly (ABDEM) said in Yerevan.

Rojda Yildirim, Kurdish by origin, said ABDEM members came to Yerevan to support the Armenian people.

“We will participate in commemoration events on Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day. We are here for peace, and we want this issue to be solved fairly. The fate of all oppressed nations is crucial for us, so we want Armenian Genocide to be recognized everywhere,” she said during a press conference on Tuesday.

ABDEM has been founded in Europe and has no relation to Turkish government,  Yildirim explained. The organization unites representatives of Turkish diaspora.

“We held a media conference in Europe, and of course Turkey is aware of our intentions,” she emphasized.

The representatives of ABDEM will honor victims of the Armenian Genocide on April 24 and will lay wreaths at the memorial in Tsitsernakaberd.

The organization having over 1 million members opposes denial policy and demands that Turkish government should recognize Armenian Genocide and bear responsibility for the consequences. ABDEM operates in Germany but has branches in many European states.
