Sixteen-year-old Brazilian Marcel Fernandes broke the record for the fastest SMS text.

According to the media, the Guinness World Records officially acknowledged this achievement on Thursday.

The participants in the respective contest, which was held last month in New York, had to type the following text as quickly as possible: “The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human.”

Fernandes typed this text in 18.19 seconds thus shattering the previous record of 18.44 seconds.

The teen told that he developed his SMS text-typing skills after having broken his notebook. And since he had no means to buy a new notebook, he had to use solely his smartphone.
