YEREVAN. – The Armenian Geographic project—which was established in 2012—is preparing to make an ascent to Mount Ararat.

“One of its [the project’s] objectives is to introduce Armenia’s geography by way of expeditions,” project founder Tigran Shahbazyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“We differ [from many such organizations], since we put the emphasis on geographic objects. Armenia has a great potential to [also] develop mountaineering, rock climbing, cave expedition, etc.,” Shahbazyan added.

In his words, although most participants in these treks are the residents of Armenia, foreigners likewise partake in them.

Tigran Shahbazyan also informed that in August, the Armenian Geographic plans to climb Mount Ararat, which is located in Turkey, and anyone with a good physical health may join this ascent.
