YEREVAN. – A delegation from Armenia comprised of the representatives of different state agencies visited Georgia to study the experience in terms of introduction of probation and punishment system.

The trip was organized within the UN program aiming to promote the effective use of non-custodial sanctions in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, Civil Society Institute NGO reported.

The delegation met with the staff of Georgian Justice ministry, deputy minister on probation and sanctions, the chief of probation service, the Court of Appeal judges, representatives of NGOs.

The chief of probation service presented the experience of his country, problems and solutions, briefed the guests on further programs.

Armenia intends to introduce an institution of probation, and legislative changes are being elaborated for this purpose.
