YEREVAN. – Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, along with several French officials, on Monday performed the official opening of the Consulate General of Armenia in Lyon, France.
The event brought together world-renowned French-Armenian singer, songwriter, actor, public activist, and diplomat Charles Aznavour; French officials and MPs; political, public and cultural figures; leaders of French-Armenian community organizations; and members of the media.
In his welcoming remarks, Nalbandian underscored the founding of this consulate general stressing that the City of Lyon and the Rhône-Alpes Region play an important role in the development of Armenian-French relations and cooperation, informed the Armenia MFA press service.
In addition, the minister thanked the Lyon and Rhône-Alpes authorities, Armenian organizations, and French citizens of Armenian origin for their continuous assistance to the strengthening of Armenian-French friendship.
The Armenia FM also expressed a conviction that the consulate general will greatly contribute to deepening of Armenian-French relations.
