YEREVAN. – The common economic space between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh will be maintained de facto, and de jure, official Yerevan will enter the Eurasian Economic Union (EaEU) with its internationally recognized borders.

Political scientist Aleksandr Markarov noted the above-said at a press conference on Tuesday.

At the same time, however, he did not rule out that a customs checkpoint may be set up between the two countries, but, as per the analyst, this may just be a formality.

Markarov noted that Armenia’s EaEU accession process is delaying for numerous reasons, including the unresolved matters between the founding members of the organization.

The treaty on the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union was signed on May 29 in the Kazakhstan capital city Astana, and by the presidents of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. The agreement will enter into force on January 1, 2015.
