As of January 2015, Lithuania will become the nineteenth member of the eurozone and it will use the euro as local currency, reported the European Union (EU) General Affairs Council.

The respective decision was made at the EU meeting in Brussels.

On July 16, the European Parliament had approved Lithuania’s joining the eurozone.
