Norway is the leader among 187 countries in the United Nations Development Programme Human Development Index (UNDP HDI), whose latest report has been released.

There is no change in the top five, as compared to the previous year’s report, since Norway, Australia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the US still head the list, in that order.

The first 49 countries are those with a very high level development.

Armenia is ranked 87th, just like in the year past.

Russia is 57th, Turkey is 69th, Iran is 75th, Azerbaijan is 76th, and Georgia is ranked 79th.

According to the report—which is based on the GDP per capita, education, and life expectancy—development has slowed all around the world and continues to be very disproportionate.

Sierra Leone, Chad, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Niger round up the bottom five countries in the latest UNDP HDI.
