YEREVAN. – The Yerevan Thermal Power Plant (TPP) of Armenia’s capital city will produce around 1.5 billion kW/h of electricity in 2014.

Yerevan TPP CJSC CEO Hovakim Hovhannisyan told the abovementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, the plant will continue to operate in full capacity, since its price is the lowest among the other thermal power plants in Armenia.

As of August 1, however, the Yerevan TPP’s overall prices will rise significantly to make payments for its modernization loan, which the Japan International Cooperation Agency had granted in 2005.

The loan’s grace period ends in 2015 and, subsequently, payments need to be made.

Within the framework of the aforesaid loan, the construction of the TPP’s new unit was completed in 2010.
