YEREVAN. – The US Ambassador to Armenia still has things to do before leaving the country on ending of his diplomatic mission, John Heffern himself told reporters on Tuesday.

“I’ve got some time left, I’m not leaving soon, I’ll be here for quite a long time. There are still things to do,” he said.

The main tasks for his successor, he added, will surely stay the same: deepening economic ties with Armenia and create jobs and economic opportunities for Armenian people, through USAID and other American institutions.

On July 10 Richard M. Mills was nominated by the President of the U.S. Barack Obama as an incoming ambassador of the U.S. to Armenia. The last appointment of Mills (2012-14) was Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon, a country with a sizable Armenian population.
