The Russian policemen caught members of a gang engaged in fraud by pretending to be psychics.
The Moscow criminal investigation department officers detained 27 members of a gang, mainly the natives of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Armenia, police said in a statement.
The group was headed by a married couple, 48-year-old and 45-year-old natives of Moscow, who hired migrants for a job in the call center. The workers answered phone calls from those seeking assistance of magicians and psychics. In some cases, victims were urged to come to the office for a personal meeting with “a psychic” -- the service that was much more expensive than a phone call.
It has been disclosed that the call center received about a hundred calls per day, and the total damage is estimated at 800 million rubles.
