Artur Mirzoyan, who fired shots at the Turkish embassy in Moscow, is a Russian Federation citizen and he lived in Tula Oblast (Province).

Mirzoyan, however, had not fired at the Turkish national flag or the coat of arms, but rather at the sign which reads Embassy of Turkey, the press service of the Armenian embassy in the Russian capital city told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“Mirzoyan is in the police station; he was detained for two days. The law enforcement agencies are ascertaining the motives which, however, Artur Mirzoyan does not yet inform,” the press service also noted.

Moscow-based Moskovskiy Komsomolets daily had reported that Dobry Les JSC CEO Artur Mirzoyan, 43, fired two shots—with a hunting gun—at the coat of arms of the Turkish republic outside the Turkish embassy in Moscow, in the early morning hours on Monday. Mirzoyan was detained several hours later, and a criminal case was filed against him.
