After Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s victory in the recent presidential election in Turkey, everyone has focused on the likely candidates as the new PM.

Several analysts and political scientists in Turkey consider current FM Ahmet Davutoglu as the next most likely candidate for this office.

Even though the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) congress will be convened on August 27, President-elect Erdogan is expected to announce the name of the preferred PM candidate on Tuesday, and this candidate should be approved at the congress.

Sources close to the AKP have stressed, however, that major changes will not be made in the Cabinet of the next Turkish PM. It is noted that solely a few of the serving ministers will be dismissed.
