During a farewell reception on Tuesday, Turkey’s outgoing President Abdullah Gul announced that the next prime minister of the country will be the current FM, Ahmet Davutoglu.     

Gul stated that on August 27, Davutoglu will become chairman of Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), and also the new PM of the country, reported Hürriyet daily of Turkey.

The outgoing president stressed that he is the person who brought Davutoglu into politics, expressed a hope that Davutoglu will be successful in his new office, and noted that they will support him.   

Outgoing PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan became winner of the presidential election that was held in Turkey on August 10. On August 27, Erdogan will formally assume his duties as the president of Turkey.
