Azerbaijan’s buildup of weapons on the Line of Contact at the end of last month was nothing but an attempt to provoke military actions and to induce the Armenian side for a military mobilization.

Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Defense Minister and Defense Army Commander Movses Hakobyan noted the abovementioned at a press conference.

“In this way, Azerbaijan was trying to blackmail us by attempting to spread an imaginary fear, but they failed. Once our [military] subdivisions came to the Line of Contact, the Azerbaijani side removed the armament from the Line of Contact,” the NKR minister noted.

Hakobyan added that according to his data, Azerbaijan lost 36 people, whereas the Armenian side lost three officers and three soldiers as a result of Azerbaijan’s most recent acts of sabotage.

As per the NKR defense minister, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev attempted to demonstrate to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan that unless the Armenian party makes unilateral concessions, Azerbaijan will resume the military actions.

Movses Hakobyan noted that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces’ special detachments, which were trained in Northern Cyprus and on which Azerbaijan had spent large amounts, had conducted seven acts of sabotage on the Line of Contact.
