YEREVAN. – Four people have drowned in Lake Sevan this year, commander of a special rescuers' unit at Emergency Situations Ministry said.

Since the number of tourists in Sevan has increased due to favorable weather conditions, the citizens needs to follow the advice of lifeguards, Armen Chzmachyan.

He once again called not to swim while being drunk or after a heavy meal, not to jump into the water from water transport, not to swim in unfamiliar areas, and to swim in the areas with lifeguards.

“A special rescue team consists of 38 rescuers, but a larger group is needed to control the entire shore of Lake Sevan, given that the area is about 220-230 kilometers. We are working at three public beaches, and, if necessary, the staff also respond to signals from private beaches,” he said during a press conference on Friday.
