YEREVAN. – Armenia's Agriculture Ministry will launch a pilot program of livestock and cattle insurance, Minister Sergo Karapetyan told reporters.

The program will be launched in Vayots Dzor region in Armenia's south where cattle inventory has been recently carried out

“Gradual introduction of agricultural insurance is one of our priorities,” the Minister said.

Head of the department on agricultural programs Hrachya Tspnetsyan said livestock and cattle breeding requires only 10% of insurance potentially necessary to insure all of the agricultural sector of Armenia. The reason is that the main risks, such as hail and frost, affect the crop.
