YEREVAN. – The government project, which aims to breed trout in Armenia’s Lake Sevan, is dangerous because of the synthetic feed to be given to this fish.

Water resources expert and environmentalist Knarik Hovhannisyan stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Wednesday.

She noted that the nitrogen and the phosphorus in the feed can be quite hazardous, and the water pollution is further exacerbated because a portion of this feed, which the fish cannot manage to consume, sits at the bottom of the water.

In turn, Artur Atoyan, who is head of the Armenian Fish Farmers Association, added that the feed, which the fish do not consume within the first fifteen minutes, turns into waste at the bottom of the water.
