YEREVAN. – Kazakhstan is well-disposed toward Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union (CU).

Kazakhstan Ambassador to Armenia Ayimdos Bozzhigitov stated the aforementioned to reporters on Wednesday, A1+ news agency reported.

“There is no delay [in Armenia’s accession process]; there are solely technical matters,” he added.

In the diplomat’s words, Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev himself has signed the roadmap on Armenia’s CU accession.

To the remark that Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan states that not everyone is happy to see Armenia in the Russia-led Customs Union, the Kazakh ambassador responded:

“The Customs Union, and later also the Eurasian Economic Union, are based on pragmatic reality; it’s pure economy, [and] no political matter is put there.”

As for Nazarbayev’s remark that Armenia should join the CU with its internationally recognized borders, Bozzhigitov noted:

“Your president said that Armenia will join the Customs Union with its borders.”
