YEREVAN. – Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian’s participation in Thursday’s inauguration of Turkey’s President-elect Recep Tayyip Erdogan cannot be welcomed.

Giro Manoyan, who is Head of the Political Affairs Bureau and the Armenian Cause Office of the Armenian opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party, stated the aforementioned.

As per Manoyan, Nalbandian’s attendance to this event is unwelcome not solely due to Erdogan’s anti-Armenian statement during the presidential election campaign, but especially if this attendance aims to revive the Armenian-Turkish protocols.

“Erdogan has shown, even inadvertently, his true feelings and thoughts towards Armenia and the Armenians, and this does not make it worthwhile for Armenia’s FM to attend his inauguration.

“Armenia should withdraw its signature from these protocols. [But] instead, [and] despite Turkey’s inimical demeanor, our authorities are attempting to revive them,” the ARF official noted.
