YEREVAN. – Recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh by California Senate followed Azerbaijan's military adventure, political analyst Stepan Safaryan said.

The analyst is convinced that Azerbaijan's adventurous actions were a threat to West's plans.

“Recognition of Karabakh's independence by California Senate can be perceived as a certain response to Azerbaijan,” Safaryan said during a media conference on Friday.

He emphasized that Azerbaijan's actions were beneficial to Russia.

“Baku perceived the sale of weapons by Moscow as a result of deteriorating relations between Russia and Armenia. Russia needed these actions to show the West that Armenia and Azerbaijan are under Russian influence,” he added.

The latest adventures actions by Azerbaijan on the frontline were also blackmail towards the West.

“Aliyev has crossed the Rubicon, for which he receives retaliation. Post-August events have shown that the West makes it clear that Aliyev is close to losing his power,” Safaryan noted.
