YEREVAN. – About 40,000 children in Armenia have entered Grade 1 this year.
Education and Science Ministry Public Education Department Head Narine Hovhannisyan stated the above-said at a press conference on Monday.
In her words, this is a projected number and the final number of the schoolchildren will become known between September 10 and 15.
“We have provided ABC and mathematics textbooks to all first-graders as a gift,” Hovhannisyan noted.
She added that the textbooks for Grades 1 to 4 are provided free of charge, whereas there are certain fees for the middle and high schools in Armenia.
