YEREVAN. – Azerbaijan has become a victim of lies spread by their leadership, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan said during his meeting with professors and students of Yerevan State University of Economics.

Commenting on the border events in late July and early August, Minister noted that Azerbaijan's leadership has been recently repeating threats and permanently threatening “to solve the conflict through military means”. The Minister stressed that idle talk does not mean quality.

“During sabotage attempts undertaken by the Azerbaijani side, they incurred losses about 9 times more than the Armenian side. I grieve for the Armenian soldiers. And I'm also sorry for the victims from Azerbaijani side, as military and political leadership of Azerbaijant is responsible for their death,” Ohanyan noted.

According to him, if we compare the purely quantitative data, then the opponent has more equipment and manpower, “but for more than 20 years, and without participation of a third force - and this is no longer anywhere in the world - we are maintaining status quo due to a balance of power and superiority of soldiers. In the 90s, Azerbaijan also had superiority. But then and now, the quality of the Armenian armed forces is better”.
