YEREVAN. – The Armenian and the Azerbaijani Presidents’ meeting in Wales with the US Secretary of State proved that even though NATO is not directly involved in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, the settlement of the Karabakh conflict is a priority for US and NATO.

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Koryun Nahapetyan, who is also chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs, noted the aforementioned at a discussion on Wednesday.

“The [recent] meeting [in Wales, and along the lines of the NATO summit,] was important for Armenia and NATO, alike. It showed that NATO’s approach is consistent with Armenia’s approach.

“The meeting was also a signal for [Azerbaijan President Ilham] Aliyev to return to the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict,” Nahapetyan stressed.
