YEREVAN. – The NATO declaration adopted in Wales clearly stated the Alliance stands for peaceful settlement of the conflicts and supports the Minsk Group process, UK Ambassador Katherine Leach said.

Ambassador said she understands that Armenia was not happy to see certain wordings, but as a representative of a NATO member state she is very pleased to note “the declaration clearly stated that the Alliance supports peaceful settlement of conflicts”.

“We protect the OSCE Minsk Group, as coordinator of negotiations on Karabakh,” Ambassador emphasized.

Everything possible was done to ensure that the declaration advocated peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict, the diplomat added.

As reported earlier, the final declaration adopted in Wales said the NATO “Allies also remain committed in their support to the territorial integrity, independence, and sovereignty of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and the Republic of Moldova”. The document also said NATO will continue to support efforts towards a peaceful settlement of the conflicts in the south Caucasus, as well as in the Republic of Moldova.
