Throughout the history the Armenian Church has been the essential center for Armenian Community in Armenia as well as in Diaspora. It was here that people gathered for services, meetings, social events to share their faith, rich culture and preserve their Armenian identity. The church was and till today remains as community's spiritual and cultural home. Likewise St.Sahag Armenian Church is the home for Armenians in Minnesota.

The first service at St. Sahag was held in 2001.The services were first held quarterly and now have increased to weekly. In 2012 Fr. Tadeos Barseghyan was assigned as the Pastor of the Church and since then has been serving the community with his family.

Armenian Community in Minnesota is not very large, but it is a group of very dedicated and faithful people who work hard for their Church and Community.

On September 14th, on the Feast of Exultation of Holy Cross, the first Armenian Festival was held at St. Sahag Armenian Church in St. Paul, bringing together Armenians and non-Armenians across the state. The main goal of the festival was to build a strong community and to share Armenian culture and tradition with the larger Minnesota community. In this regard, the festival was a huge success.

Fr. Tadeos hopes the festival will become annual and will be held at the Feast of the Holy Cross every year.

“This was the first time we had a festival, but we want it to become annual,” he said.

Over 40 members of the Armenian community volunteered their time and talent to help organize this event. Over 250 people attended the festival and enjoyed the Armenian cultural displays, food, and presentations. The attendees could watch lavash making, Armenian dancing, learned about Armenian Church and history. In addition, food sales, jewelry exhibition, children’s arts and crafts were presented.
